GETTING STARTED

How do I become a member?

1. Go to CONNECTEDthreadz.com.
2. If you are not already a member, click "Sign Up" in the dialogue box ("Sign In" is for existing users).

   

3. A screen will pop up saying "Create Account". Enter your email address, password, timezone, and language. Agree to terms of service. Click "Continue."

   

4. You will be prompted to provide your "Profile Information". This will be the information other CONNECTEDthreadz members can see about you. This is a good place to promote your website by providing the web address. Click "Save" when you are satisfied with your Information. NOTE: If you prefer to add or change this later, you may do so any time.

   

5. Next you can "Add Your Photo". The photo you choose will be how others see you on CONNECTEDthreadz. Although this step is optional, even providing an image of your work allows others to have a visual way to identify you. To do this, Click "Browse..." by "Choose a New Photo." Choose an image from your computer to use as your Profile Picture. Click "Save Photo." NOTE: If you prefer to add or change this later, you may do so any time.

   

6. Congratulations! You are now a member. You will now be directed to the CONNECTEDthreadz Homepage.

What is the optimal internet browser to view CONNECTEDthreadz?

Mozilla Firefox is the most compatible internet browser with CONNECTEDthreadz. It is easy and fast to download at the following link: http://www.mozilla.com.

BECOMING FRIENDS

How do I ask someone to be my friend?

1. Go to the member's profile who you wish to be friends with.
2. Under their profile picture, click "Add to My Friends."

   

3. A dialogue box will appear, asking "Would you like to add this member as a friend?"

   

4. Click "Add Friend" to confirm. Next time this member logs on, they will be able to accept your friend request.

How do I accept someone's friend request?

1. Go the member's profile who has requested your friendship.
2. Under their profile picture, click "Approve Friend Request."

   

3. A dialogue box will appear, asking, "Would you like to accept this member's friend request."

   

4. Click "Add Friend" to confirm. You two are now friends.

Where can I browse members?

1. Click on "Members" on the green navigation bar at the top of the page. This takes you to the "Members" page.

SHARING

How do I post an update to the newsfeed?

Posting in the newsfeed allows you to conveniently share comments, photos, links, or videos with other members. You can post updates from two places: "Home" or "My Profile." Here's how:

1. Make sure you are in "Home" by clicking "Home" on the green navigation bar at the top of the page. In "Home," move your cursor under "What's New" to the text box that says "Post Something...." Click in the box.

   

2. A drop down menu will appear. From here you can do the following:

   

   A. Post a Comment by typing in the text box and clicking "Share."

   B. Post a Photo by clicking "Add Photo." Then click "Select File." Choose a file from your computer. A thumbnail of the picture will be displayed. Then click "Share" to post the photo to the newsfeed. NOTE: Before sharing, you can type a comment in the text box to describe the photo.

   C. Post a Link by clicking "Add Link." Then type or paste the web address (URL) in the provided text box. Click "Attach." The link and its image will be displayed. Then click "Share" to post the link in the newsfeed. NOTE: Before sharing, you can type a comment in the text box to describe the link.

   D. Post a Video by clicking "Add Video." Then choose the source of the video (YouTube or Vimeo). Type or paste the web address (URL) for the video in the provided text box, click "Attach." A thumbnail of the video with its description will be displayed. Then click "Share" to post the video in the newsfeed. NOTE: Before sharing, you can type a comment in the text box to describe the video.

How do I post a comment under an existing post?

Commenting under an existing post ensures your comment is read by other members in that conversation. This is useful if you are answering someone's question directly, or commenting on a picture they posted. Here's how:

1. Below the post you wish to comment on, click on "Comment."

   

2. A text box will appear at the bottom of the conversation, in which you can type your comment.
3. Click "Post Comment" to complete the process.

How do I post photos?

1. Click on "Albums" on the green navigation bar at the top of the page. This takes you to the "Albums" page.

   

2. Click on "Add New Photos."
3. Enter the appropriate album title, category, description, and privacy settings.

   

4. Click on "Add Photos" to select one or more photos from your computer. Uploading will begin automatically.
5. When your upload is finished, click "Save Photos." The photos are now uploaded.
6. A text box will appear, offering you to give the photos titles and captions. Type the desired information and click "Save Changes."

   

How do I post videos?

1. Click on "Videos" on the green navigation bar at the top of the page. This takes you to the "Videos" page.

   

2. Click on "Post New Video."
3. Enter the video's title, category, description, and privacy settings.

   

4. Choose a video source. (Either Youtube or Vimeo)
5. Type or paste the video's complete link (URL) into the provided text box.
6. Click "Save Video." Your video can now be viewed by other members.

How do I post events?

1. Click on "Events" on the green navigation bar at the top of the page. This takes you to the "Events" page.

   

2. Click on "Create New Event."
3. Enter the event's name, description, time, website, email, location, and category. You also have the option of adding a photo with the event. Choose your privacy settings.

   

4. Click on "Save Changes." Your event can now be viewed by other members.

How do I post classifieds?

1. Click on "Classifieds/Links" on the green navigation bar at the top of the page. This takes you to the "Classifieds/Links" page.

   

2. Click on "Post a New Listing."
3. Enter the listing's title, category, description, photo, location, website, and email. Choose your privacy settings.

   

4. Click on "Post Listing." Your classified can now be viewed by other members.

How do I create a poll?

1. Click on "Polls" on the green navigation bar at the top of the page. This takes you to the "Polls" page.

   

2. Click on "Create New Poll."
3. Enter the poll question, description, and possible answers. Choose your privacy settings.

   

4. Click on "Create Poll." Your poll can now be viewed and voted on by other members.

How do I check for updates?

1. Click on "Updates" located at the top right of the page. It may say "1 Update" or "2 Updates" or more depending on how much activity has occurred on your posts.

   

2. A drop down feed will appear, from which you can view your updates. Click on the individual items to view the related posts.

   

MANAGING YOUR ACCOUNT

How do I change my account settings?

1. Click on "Settings" in the tab at the top right of the page. This will take you to the "Settings" page.

   

2. From "My Settings" you can:

   

A. Click "General" to manage your email address, timezone, and locale.

B. Click "Privacy" to manage blocked members, who can view your profile, who can post on your profile, and what activity is posted to the newsfeed.

C. Click "Notifications" to manage what your receive email alerts about.

D. Click "Change Password" to change the password you use when you log on.

E. Click on "Delete Account" to permanently delete your account.

How do I change my profile picture?

1. Either from "Home" or "My Profile," click on "Edit My Profile" located under your profile picture. This takes you to the "Edit My Profile" page.

   

2. Click on "Edit My Photo." This brings up the "Edit My Photo" dialogue box.
3. Click on "Browse" by the text box that says "Choose New Photo" above it. Choose the photo from your computer that you would like to use as your new profile picture.

   

4. Click on "Save Photo" when it is done uploading. This is your new profile picture. NOTE: You can edit your thumbnail from this screen by clicking "Edit Thumbnail" and saving the changes.

How do I change my personal information?

1. Either from "Home" or "My Profile," click on "Edit My Profile" located under your profile picture. This takes you to the "Edit My Profile" page.

   

2. Click on "Personal Info." This brings up the "Personal Information" dialogue box.

   

3. From here you can manage your name, email, gender, birthday, contact information, and anything else you would like to share with members on CONNECTEDthreadz.
